Mike Stilkey’s Book Sculpture
2009 September 18

If your in or around Denver Colorado tonight (Friday the 18th), head over to the David B. Smith gallery to take a look at Mike Stilkey’s solo exhibit “Words fail me”. It includes some of his great book sculptures, which are quite amazing you know.
His work will be showing there until October 10th, but if you head over tonight between 7 and 10 you’ll get to meet the man himself. Cool.
Check out more from the artist here…Mike Stilkey
Ciao.

Great idea
Thats a beautiful set of sculptures. Its a way of making a painting tangible. I feel inspired now.
excellent work , agree with linaka , very inspiring , great way to use old magazines as well , i can see a few people doing this in there own house ,
reminds me of an old junk yard i played in as a kid , we’d stack the books up into towers till they fell , prestonpans , scotland , and its still there

“Quite amazing, you know”
Quite amazing, yes, but no, I did not know, until now. And what I still don’t know, is like, you know, ummm… DID YOU READ ALL THOSE BOOKS???!!? Every single one, including the foreword, epilogue, prologue, and liner notes? C’mon, tell the truth!
I just love the way an artist’s mind works. This cat probably sat in the library or bookstore one day staring at stacks of books and thought to himself, ‘Hmmm, I wonder if there is a way to unite a book on conservative politics with one on green technology.’
I know, I know, I’m reaching, but that’s the great thing about art. it lets you wonder and speculate in all sorts of crazy ways, Cool stuff.
This is a pleasure to look at!
nice work!
Nice, never seen anything like this before.

Is your mind opened to all the new possibilities the instructor is willing to give you? ,
